Road Trip
Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2002 - 2:33 PM Song: Never was a cornflake girl Took a mini road trip to Jersey yesterday with Jen and Dave to go visit Peter. Jen and I got off work at 1 due to Pres Day so we decided not to waste it. What a beautiful day for driving! We even had fun getting a bit lost on the way there. Jen has no sense of direction. Too bad that she was the driver. Visiting people's college dorms always interests me since I've never had that kind of college life. Almost makes me want to go back to school. We had lunch at a lil restaurant called Ole Man Rafferty's. I reconfirmed my alkee status by having a Heineken. Peter didn't know his wrap wasn't chicken but tuna even after having 3 bites of it. Dave ordered swordfish cuz I told him it sounded interesting. And it was good. Jen ate everybody's pickles. We decided to go watch a movie and couldn't decide on which one, up until the moment we got to the ticket counter. Jen and Peter wanted to watch "Crossroads". *gag* We ended up watching "John Q" which was surprisingly good considering all the negative reviews I had heard about it. True, there was BAD acting (ie. the boy's doctor (not to be confused with the surgeon played by James Woods). I cringed every time he came out), and some unecessary parts but I still enjoyed it. Denzel really did save the whole movie. I would tell you what would have made the movie better but then I would spoil the ending. =) At the end of the movie there was a dedication. "For Sasha" it said. All 4 of us had the same thought, though Peter voiced it first. "Sasha and Digweed!" Damn crackheads! Headed off to see Peter's dorm for the first time. Not too small for a single. It was very neat but then again he's pretty neat. Kinda sparse but Peter's a minimalist and I told him so. We got hungry again (ok ok Jen and I got hungry...ok well I said it first) so we went out to the grease trucks to pick up some sandwiches. The names of the sandwiches all start with the word "Fat". They are HUGE. Obviously not a thing to eat if you're on a diet. Jen and Dave split a Fat Moon. I considered the Fat Bitch but settled to split a Fat Night with Peter. Fat Night = cheese steak, fries, ketchup, marinara sauce and mozzarella sticks. Took them back to the dorm to eat. They are incredibly messy. How did I, ever the princess, eat such a monstrosity of a sandwich? =) Peter held it for me so that I could take bites and not have to touch it much. Now that's true friendship! That's also me being an incredibly spoiled princess. But I know you still love me! *grin* Thanks to Dave (not road trip Dave) for clearing up that platonic ideal thing. "...a Platonic ideal is something that you can't *physically* grasp or obtain, but it is the ubiquitous ideal--an absolute measuring stick--with which all objects are compared. It's basically an unattainable goal. So what she's saying is that you're the kind of girl that all guys would only dream of having as their girlfriend, but none can actually obtain. They probably end up comparing others around them to you. After reading your updates, I can definitely see that." Thanks for the info Dave.
At my desk at work. Notice my poopie animal collection on top of my monitor. Don't I look like I'm 10 years old? "I'm waiting for my mommy here at her desk." Hope you guys had a fun Pres Day!
