Korean delicacies

Friday, Feb. 01, 2002 - 11:15 AM

Today: Wearing a "Guess" shirt and being asked by everybody, "Guess what?" I have perfected the condescending, sarcastic "you're so original" smile.

Song: Sometimes I'm goody goody, right now I'm naughty naughty

Went to Kum Gang San for dinner last night. Here's a better link. It's a listing of some Korean restaurants in NYC. Note: I went to the original Kum Gang San in Flushing, not Manhattan. Anyways the occasion was my cousin's (Sean's daddy) saeng il or birthday. Come read Key's journal and learn Korean for free! *grin* We had Korean BBQ, which is always yummy, whether it's at home or at a restaurant. We stuffed ourselves with kalbi (boneless, marinated ribs), assorted ban chan (side dishes, including the ever famous kimchi!), sang chu (Korean lettuce), thin strips of pa (scallions) in a vinaigrette style sauce, and gochu (hot peppers) and mah neul (garlic). The kalbi is usually eaten wrapped in a piece of sang chu together with the pa and ssam jang (a type of bean paste). People also add in the gochu and mah neul too for a lil kick. I personally don't like raw garlic so I stay away from that. So, you guys hungry yet? Heh heh~

Dinner was the 5 of us; me, my bro, my cousin, his wife and the baby. Sean is getting cuter and cuter as he gets older. I definitely need to take some pics of him and put them up. My cousin paid for dinner cuz in Korean tradition, the birthday person is supposed to treat his friends and family. I think I'll stick to the American way where everyone pays for me! Ha!!

My birthday is coming up soon and I don't think anyone's planning anything so I decided to just plan it myself. Hmm....it's times like these when I need a boyfriend to plan some great big party for me or surprise me with something. Damn! But it's ok. This year I'm having all of my different groups of friends get together instead of having separate celebrations with each group like I usually do. I think it would be fun. I like the different dynamics you get from chilling with a big group of friends. It will most probably consist of dinner and then on to some type of drinking/club place. I'd like a place where we can sit comfortably on couches and drink but also has a dance floor and good music for when you want to get up and shake your thang. =)

Ok I think it's about time I started doing some work. Heh~ I'm feeling slakerish but it's Friday so I have an excuse. =)
